Requirements

What your sheet package needs.

The right packaging depends on the case. We clarify these four points in the enquiry:

Format and weight

Sheet format and approximate package weight determine base, edge protection and strapping.

Transport route

Truck, rail or ship: duration and climate en route determine how much moisture protection is needed.

Storage

Indoor or outdoor, short or long standing time. Outdoor storage and long periods require individual advice.

Partial removal

Is the package emptied gradually? Then reclosing without loss of protection is decisive.

Structure

Five elements. One system.

VCI is the material of the top layer: the vapour-phase corrosion inhibitor deposits molecularly on the metal and forms a protective atmosphere under the film. The remaining elements secure the package mechanically.

Base Structure

Sturdy wooden pallet. Protects the sheet from stress caused by bending and during transport.

Base Layer

Separates the sheets from the wooden pallet. No moisture reaches the sheet.

Top Layer

VCI film. Vapour-phase corrosion protection plus weather and moisture barrier.

Edge Protection

All the way round, on every side, for maximum protection. Reduces transport damage.

Strapping

PET plastic strap or steel strap. PET is easy to unpack and easy to recycle.

Benefits and limits

What the system delivers.

Benefits: corrosion protection without oiling or degreasing, immediate further processing, reclosable for partial removal, steel sheet protected against dents and scratches.

Limits: protection time depends on storage, material and climate; we give no blanket guarantee. CORROpack Eco is only available for standard formats. Figures are based on reference cases under defined conditions.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

For sheet packages the interplay matters. The VCI top layer creates the protective atmosphere; base, bottom layer, edge protection and strapping protect mechanically and keep the package stable.

Do not cut the film. Release the strapping, remove the edge protection and fold the film aside. After removal, lay the film back over the remaining sheets; for optimum protection, refit the edge protection and re-strap.

That depends on storage, material and climate. We state no blanket protection period. For dry indoor storage, and for outdoor storage or long periods, we advise case by case.
